Robert Borneman, born in 1956, and his wife Joyce (Married 1982) years reside in Syosset, NY. In addition to his duties as Treasurer for the Fund, Robert also serves on committees for the Funds events.
As an entrepreneur, Mr. Borneman started his business with forty dollars in 1977. The initial investment has grown into a multi-million dollar network which includes several fine jewelry stores known as Diamond Jewelers; and multiple real estate ventures. As president of Diamond Jewelers, Robert wears all of the managerial hats needed to operate a small business with over thirty employees.
Mr. Borneman has also been actively involved as a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for more than 15 years; is a New York State certified Boating Safety Instructor and is a member of two local chambers of commerce. Hobbies include boating, fishing, travel and golf. Mr. Borneman also conducts complimentary lectures about gemology and fine jewelry.
Mr. Borneman has chosen to support the work of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund because of the high incidence of breast cancer on Long Island and its ability to affect every family. This cause has also become near and dear to the Borneman family since Robert’s mother is a survivor.
The experience of attending fundraising events, attending lectures and being exposed to new and exciting changes in healthcare field made possible from research conducted with the money the Baldwin Fund has raised for more than ten years in support of Stony Brook University Hospital is truly amazing.
